June Favourites

Hey guys!

So I finally got around to writing this! I probably should've written this post beforehand, so that I actually had something to put up! I'm sorry I kept you waiting! I hope you all had a lovely week and that it's been nice weather! Anyone in or around South East England, did you hear the huge storm on Friday night? I didn't, I managed to sleep right through as usual! I wish I had seen it though.

Since I haven't done a favourites post recently, I figured now would be a good time. All of these things are pretty new but I already know I want to share them! This first one you will recognise from my last post but I've tried it a little more now. It's the Make-up Revolution setting spray that I reviewed last week and since then, I've worn it more and for longer. It does a pretty good job at lasting 12 hours actually! It also holds makeup in place well (there's a better description in my review post)! 

2nd is this Nivea 2-in-1 micellar cleansing water. I used it leading up to prom to try and clear my skin of spots. I can never usually tell if these kind of things work or not but I'm pretty sure this one did! It can also removes makeup and moisturises in one which means you don't have to carry multiple bottles! You don't really need a lot of it on a cotton pad for it to work, which is good, because I want it to last a while!

This next one is a little odd, I'm not sure sunglasses are a normal 'favourite' thing but anyway, they're here. These aviator style ones are from New Look (for around £5.99 I think) and I love the style! They're not too big or heavy on my face but they give pretty good sun protection! I started off buying some like this from Primark but I strongly don't recommend it because they didn't block any sun! In fact, they made everything brighter. These ones are both comfortable and cool (and as a bonus, they don't leave red marks on my nose! Yay!) 

Now, a moisturiser, because you can never try enough different moisturisers! This one is Superdrug own brand and is a vitamin E one. I'm not entirely sure what that means but it feels nice on my skin and does its job very well! It soaks in pretty quickly and smells fantastic! I especially like the pot it comes in, it's very simple but looks very cool (and it holds a lot too!)

One of my friends had this Zoella body mist called 'Blissful Mistful' and while I was at her house I smelt it and loved it, so, decided to get it! I was unsure for a while in the shop because it was £8 but I also realised that I had no idea about whether or not that was good value, so I brought it anyway! Which I do quite a lot really, my head is saying 'are you sure' but I always end up trying it anyway! The scent is a little difficult to explain but I absolutely LOVE it and have worn it every day! *chokes slightly as I casually try and spray it to smell it and spray it up my nose instead* The bottle is so cute and I can't wait to try her new range!

I can't tell if this post is written in an odd way or not, it's probably just because of the way I'm thinking about it!

Make-up Revolution Setting Spray Review

Hey guys!

I hope you are having a lovely weekend! I can't really tell if this week has gone slowly or quickly to be honest! 

I wasn't going to do a review this weekend but since this was a very recent purchase and I used it this week I decided to review it. It was £5 and at first I saw one from MUA was slightly hesitant to buy it as the bottle was quite small but I saw this make-up revolution one had more in it for the same price.

I was a little bit skeptical about this product even though people tend to say setting sprays are pretty good. I was actually pleasantly surprised! I put some on for Prom to see if it would work (which was a little risky as I'd never used it and didn't know if my face would react or anything and I had to be out the door 10 minutes later)! 

It does a very good job! My foundation didn't end up too oily throughout the night, even though it was very hot and we were dancing for a long time! The most impressive thing for me though, was that my eye-shadow didn't crease! Usually, it ends up looking a little meh after a while. 

The bottle is also a strong point for me as it is very sleek and thin which makes it easy to take with you. It includes some rose gold coloured plastic and it makes it look very cool! Each spray doesn't use much of the liquid so I think this will definitely last a while! Now that it is getting warmer I think it will probably be a bigger part in my make-up routine as usually, when it's hot, my make-up goes everywhere!

I'd definitely recommend this product to you if you have trouble getting your make-up to stay put because it should last for 12 hours, but I haven't checked this as I didn't have my make-up on for 12 hours. It's also good if you just want a bit more security knowing that you don't have to check whether your eyeliner has made it halfway down your face yet! 

As I said in my tweet yesterday, I decided to add a few photos from my prom to the end of this post so that you could see what I wore! It was so amazing and I loved getting to have such a great time with all my friends! There are quite a few people who are moving or going to college so I'm so glad I got the chance to say goodbye to them! The colour scheme was blue and silver which was great as my whole outfit was pretty much blue and silver! Where we had it was so beautiful inside and the ceiling had twinkling lights to look like stars on it! It was so so beautiful!

My dress, bag and shoes were all from Quiz and the jewelery was from Primark. I was pretty happy with what my make-up looked like too, especially as I didn't have a clue what I was going to do until I started putting it on, and had to re-do my eyes several times as my eyeliner went wrong!

What's in my Bag? - Prom Edition

Hey guys!

For some of you, it is getting close to prom and for others it has already happened (I hope you had a lovely time if this is the case!)

I thought this post would be a fun twist on the original 'what's in my bag' and if you are wondering about what you should maybe take to prom with you! I took the photos for this post outside under a rosebush (no roses were harmed in the making of this post, the petals were on the floor anyway).

For the last few weeks, I've been searching Pinterest for things I should be taking with me and yesterday I collected it all so I wasn't rushing to do it tomorrow afternoon. 

The bag itself is from Quiz (£16.99) and I absolutely LOVE it! It matches my dress and shoes perfectly and I think it's just so pretty! 

Inside, it is kind of medium sized and there is a long chain and a shorter chain. I'll probably end up using the longer chain because then it will probably be easier to carry it throughout the night, but there is also a little pocket inside to tuck the chain into and have it as just a clutch bag. 
 

The make-up pieces I have are mostly just for touch-ups. I have: my Rimmel stay matte face powder with a little powder putter-onner thingy from Primark. I'm also going to take my felt tip liner (from MUA) and a small bottle of perfume. The bottle was just an old one I found in my room but the perfume is my favourite one (which I think is called Fantasy by Britney Spears - it's a little ironic that I can't remember the name of it even though it is my favourite!) I also have my Baby-Lips lipbalm but I might also put in a lipgloss. 

The more random pieces I have in my bag are, blister plasters (because my heels probably won't love my feet after a few hours); safety pins, because you never know when they may come in handy and hair grips. you can't really see it in the photo but I also have a small nail file. The white strip things are double sided fashion tape to hold the top of my dress up a little more. Also, Polos to freshen up my breath a little if needed.

I'm also going to take my phone with me but the most important thing to remember is definitely the ticket! Now I'm kind of hoping I won't forget it tomorrow...

Another jar?!

Hey guys! 

I am officially back online! *partying internally* My exams are now done and I can relax... for a week... until my 6th form induction! But in this week I'm hoping to write a lot of posts and (hopefully) figure out how to schedule them. 

I figured that *insert sarcasm* since I hardly ever blog about jars, now would be a good time! This jar was one I gave to one of my friends for her birthday. 

It was my mum who gave me the idea originally and I really love it! I already knew my friends favourite sweets were milk bottles (which I brought from the newsagents near my house) and I had the ribbon that looked like a striped candy-cane, which is good for sweets and things. Obviously all the different parts of the jar (the sweets, ribbon and jar itself) are for you to decide on, depending on the look and filling you want.

I also added a bow to the top and cut the extra ends to neaten it up but completely forgot to take a photo at the end!

The jar itself is 80p from Ikea (which I have mentioned before and used in other posts) and I think it's very cute. It can be used for a lot of different things and still looks modern at the same time. there's not much else I can say really... they're cool.

This present is really cute and it's not going to break the bank but it is still really thoughtful and I'm sure the receiver will love it (as my friend did)! 

As I have a lot of free-time for the next few weeks, there will be another post tomorrow. It will probably be a 'what's in my bag' with a twist! Hopefully I will be able to do a post at least 3 or more times a week.

Cute Summer Bracelets & a Temporary Haitus

Hey guys!

I can't believe that another month has come and gone and It's May already! This post is a cute DIY one, it's for making your own cute summer-y bracelets. I love wearing simple bracelets in summer, I think it adds a little bit of glam but isn't too OTT!

To start off, I found an old ring, but you could use beads, or a button or a special bracelet band thing! I also found some embroidery thread that I had left over from making bracelets years ago, but you could probably buy some from any hobby or craft shop. 

To start with, I tied a slip knot with a long length of my chosen colour of thread, around the ring on each side. I used a different colour for the under colour than the main part. you will also want to sellotape the bracelet to a table of clip it somewhere to hold it still.

To start off, get a second length of thread and put it under the thread taped to the table. Pass the right piece of the thread over to the left and the piece on the right, over to the left. Make sure the ends go through each side of the loops (this is so difficult to explain!) and creates a knot.

You then need to continue this until the side of the bracelet is half the size of your wrist (the other half is made up on the other side). The photos will hopefully explain how to do this slightly better than I can!

Repeat the previous step but put the thread on the right side over first and then the left side underneath to create a knot. Alternate between the two steps to even out the knotting on each side.

 Once you have repeated the knots on the other side of the bracelet, tie off the thread and sew in the excess thread from the new layer so that it doesn't unravel. Then, tie a knot in the ends of each side of the string. You could just leave them separate and tie them together to hold it on, but you could also create a tie. If you get a shorter piece of thread and do the knotting technique while the two ends are crossed over so that the bracelet can be made bigger or smaller whenever.

By now, you should have a really cool bracelet, but if it kind of looks like a mess (like mine does on the back, hence the slightly out of focus photos of it!) then keep trying, it should come out after a few practices!

Unfortunately, this is going to be my last post for a little while! My GCSE exams start this week and I need to spend as much time as I can manage revising and focusing on my school work. Sadly, that means I have to take a break for a few weeks; I'm really going to miss writing but as soon as my last exam is over I'll have a tonne of time to write as many posts as I can! My last exam is on the 19th June so I should have a post for the 20th or 21st!

1 YEAR ON!

Hey guys!

So today is pretty special for me, it just so happens to be exactly a year since I started writing this blog! Last February I began to think about whether I could write something that people would want to read, and two months later I took the plunge and wrote my very first post! I've come a long way since that first 'hey there' in my 'welcome' post and at first I didn't even tell my family, it was just my own little space where, if I messed up, it wouldn't matter but now a few more know about it! (I know you're reading so, Hi!) It's been such an amazing time and I've loved finding new things to write about each week, I really can't wait to blog some more awesome things!

I figured I should make this post pretty special so it's another DIY one. I spotted this idea on Wantfeed yesterday (if you follow me on twitter, this is what my tweet was about) and they're these cute little candle holder jars from Etsy. I was pretty sure I could make a pretty good replica (whether it would work or not was another matter!) of them so decided to give it a shot, here's how if you want to make some too! I think they would look so cute on a shelf or to give to someone as a gift! It doesn't even have to be a candle holder, it could be used to hold make-up brushes, pencils or even a plant! There's a whole world of possibilities!

First, you will need; jars, these can be any size, shape and colour you want, you could even make some bigger and some smaller ones for decorations! 

You'll also need; PVA glue, some string, beads (my ones are old glass ones I found in a bead box we have) and an extract from a book. 

If you want to use an actual page then I suggest buying an old book from a pound shop or charity shop (don't just go cutting extracts from your favourite reads!) but you could also print a paragraph off the internet to make it easier. (The book I'm using is 'From the Thorenson Dykes' by Sam Mcbratney that I got from a charity book shop a few months ago. I'm also going to use it for a few other ideas so it's completely worth the 50p I paid!) A paintbrush or glue spreader will also come in handy when putting the glue on the book page and a tealight finishes the overall look of the candle holder.

To start off, you will need to cut the extract to the right size for the jar, There should be bands along both the top and bottom of the paper that are the same width (a.k.a it should be in the middle). I chose a paragraph that was very full and filled the whole bit of paper because I felt it gave a better appearance. 

Cover the back of the page with the PVA and spread it across. To get mine to stick properly, I rolled the jar along the paper but make sure, if you do this, then you line it up properly as the first time I tried it, it came out wonky! 

Whilst this is drying, you can cut the string into two lengths, one marginally shorter than the other but both long enough to tie around the top of the jar. Then thread the beads onto each end and tie a small know to hold them on. This decoration can then be tied around the top of the jar to complete the look. 

If you're using it as a candle holder then the light should shine through the paper to create a soft orange glow (mine didn't work that well as it was only a battery LED tealight!

The other day I was casually surfing the internet and I found a picture of Glass Beach in California. It's now one of the top places I want to visit!

2. Favourite drugstore makeup brand?

I don't think I really have a particular favourite but if I did I think it would be Make Up Academy (MUA)!

Probably cheese and ham pasta! It's as plain as it sounds but nice when you just want something simple, either that or cheesy beans on toast. Cheese seems to be a recurring factor here...

4. One fashion 'no-go'?

For me, probably tight dresses or leggings, they really don't suit me! Haha!

5. Favourite music artist?

At the moment, probably Ed Sheeran! I really love 'X', it's my favourite album and has some really lovely songs.

6. If you could only use one make up product, what would it be?

I think it would probably be mascara because it's good for highlighting your eyes and if I don't use things like foundation, my face becomes clearer and I end up using less anyway.

7. Favourite trait about yourself?

I think probably that I'm quite creative, I like to try making anything I see and even if it fails, I like to try! 

8. Favourite book to read?

Definitely any of the Harry Potter books! I just love them all, but if I had to pick just one, it would probably be the Deathly Hallows! I can't even describe my love for them! (As you may or may not guess, I'm a bit of a book-a-holic!)

9. Favourite 'old-school' song?

This one's pretty easy for me actually! I love 'Tell Her About It' by Billy Joel! I'm not sure if it counts as 'old school' but I like it!

10. Tea or coffee?

Neither actually! I've never really liked tea or coffee but I'd choose hot chocolate instead usually.

11. Your dream?
My ultimate dream is to travel around the world and then go to Uni to study and become a helicopter paramedic! I've always wanted to work in medicine but also see the world!
