Have any of you guys ever been to Wales? It may be quite small but it is very beautiful! I got the chance to visit in the summer and I really loved it! I mostly stayed around the area between Cardiff and Swansea and there was a very pretty town called Barry.
I decided to do this post to show you guys, if you've never been there before, what Barry is like and some of the cool places there!
Along the front is a really cute line of fish and chip shops, arcades and souvenir shops. One of the arcades is home to the booth that Nessa runs in one of the episodes of 'Gavin and Stacey' and there is a sign that states this outside on the entrance sign.
(Nessa's prize booth)
There is also a really nice little fish and chip shop called O'sheas. We visited a couple of times and the food was amazing! The portions of chips can be quite big so, unless you're going to be sharing, it may be a good idea to order a small portion! Also, the chips with gravy are the best! You wouldn't expect it to taste great (as it is slightly unappealing to look at) but it does! They also have some pretty awesome photos up inside of different eras of Barry beach and also some of the filming of 'Gavin and Stacey'!
We managed to find the actual house that 'Gavin and Stacey' was filmed in after some thorough searching! It is Gwen (Stacey's Mother's) house and it has a sign up outside. The sign says that people are welcome to come and visit the house and that they can take pictures but for people to not stop to take photos and make a huge fuss over it. We stayed in the car but it cool to see where filming had happened.
There were also other places you could visit like the pleasure park! It is such a cool place but we didn't really like many of the rides so we rode the Bumper Cars multiple times! It was so fun but I recommend that you don't put your knees directly next to the center console as you end up with huge bruises! It was such a great experience though!
Further along the front there was also a few other huts and things that sold anything from Welsh Cakes and key-rings to spades and buckets shaped like castles!
This little hut was home to a little cafe that did the best hot chocolates! (yes, it was cold enough for us to need hot chocolate, even though it was August!) So if you are in town I definitely recommend stopping there for some beverages!
I hope this post has been interesting and that it has made you want to visit Barry (even just a little!) I certainly loved it and I hope you will too!
Until next time
Grace
