November Favourites

Hey guys,

Yet another month has flown by! I wish they'd slow down a little so that I could know what is going on at least some of the time! It is going very quickly. I realised that I hadn't done a favourites post for a while and since it's the last weekend in November I decided to write one.

~1~ Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse

This foundation is honestly my number one favourite make-up product for this month. It mattifies my T zone and generally oily areas on my face very well. It's probably one of the more expensive make-up pieces I own (even though it was only about £7) but it is definitely worth it. The foundation itself feels very dry and like it's not got much moisture, to the touch, but on your face it feels very smooth and 'weightless' as the description says. The best thing about it, however, is that a little goes a long way! I've been using it for about 3 or 4 weeks now and have barely made a dip in it! I'm just all round impressed to be honest.

~2~ I'm a Celebrity Get me Out of Here!

This one can be a little controversial. Some people love it while others despise it with a passion. I actually love watching it because (sometimes) it shows celebrities more like regular humans (sometimes) with actual emotions! My least favourite person, however, is 100% Lady C! She is a nightmare and keeps stirring trouble but I love Vikki! She is just hilarious, and she has a cool accent! I always think, while I'm watching, about how I would deal with each of the trials and I like to think that I would be strong and not scream, but if there were spiders on my shoulder then I would probably flip out or have a heart attack!

~3~ The #GirlGang!

Jemma, if you are reading this, you are such an amazing person! The Girl Gang is a fantastic idea and spreading happiness is one of the best things to do. I want to say thank you so much for starting it, I think this is something that has been lacking from the blogging community for a long time! I can't wait until the Twitter chat on Monday! (As you can see, my button is on the right hand side, but it doesn't want to be transparent for some reason!) (I still love it!)

~4~ The Tide

The Tide are a new band who have just been signed to The Vamps' (loving them too, and their new album is out now!) record label. I recently went to a little concert with my cousin (shout-out to her!)and they opened up with 'Shut up and Dance' which was amazing! I love all their covers but they'll never beat The Vamps for me!

~5~ Tuna Salad

Now to end on a weird one. The salad of the tuna. The way my mum makes it is so yummy! Lettuce, carrot, cucumber, mayonnaise, TUNA and sometimes beetroot. Just, mmmm. I never thought I would like a salad as much as I do! I used to sing along the the little tune 'you don't make friends with salad' and believe I hated it, when actually, it's very nice and I'm very sorry to all the salads out there who I judged before I tried!

Ok, so this was a little weird, but I definitely recommend checking out the Girl Gang over at Jemma's blog dorkface because I think it's going to be utterly amazing!

Have a lovely week guys! It's my school production this week so it's rehearsals every day for me (urgh!) so I might not be very active on Twitter (not that I usually am anyway!) and next Saturday might not be an early post either.

Soulmates - Review

Hey guys!

I'm so sorry for not posting last weekend; it was a busy couple of days! The post I was going to do is going to take a little more time than I originally planned, so I figured a review was a good plan.

"Every so often two people are born who are the perfect match for one another. Soulmates. But what if meeting your soulmate is earth-shattering - literally? An epic, electrifying debut about falling in love"

One of my friends lent me this book, we tend to lend each other books and films (or TV series' like Supernatural) that we think the other would like. Well, it's mostly her lending me things but you catch my drift. She said when she gave it to me that it was one to evoke emotions, so I was warned, but definitely not  prepared! 'Soulmates' by Holly Bourne has probably jumped to somewhere near the top of my list of favourite books. It doesn't quite beat the Harry Potter series or 'Finding Sky' by Joss Stirling, but it's definitely a contender! The book is beautifully written and the development of both the story-line and the characters was amazing! You really feel like you are bonding with the characters, the sarcastic protagonist, Poppy; the gorgeous Noah. You even feel like you know Poppy's Mum!

The emotions in the story are kind of like being on a rollercoaster, and when you get off you either feel pumped or like you need to lay down for a bit! I think the descriptions really add to this, they go into depth but not so much that you feel it is too descriptive and OTT. There were quite a few unexpected scenarios but you feel like you're there with the characters, seeing what they see and feeling whatever they feel. I was so drawn in that I never wanted it to end but it did *sad face* and I was just left sitting there at the table in the staff room at work, with a half eaten sandwich, thinking about life...

It may sound cheesy, but I really love it when a book draws you in so much that you feel like you have fallen in love with it. Yeah, that does sound cheesy... I think that's enough geeky-ness for today!

I hope you guys all have a wonderful! But if you're having a bad time, just remember that it wont always be so bad. We all have those times but remember, there are people out there who love you, they just might not show or tell you outright. It'll all be ok.

It's that red lips time of year!

Hey guys!

I hope you have all had a wonderful week! I cannot believe it is already November! I think someone pressed fast-forward on September and October! Yesterday I went to see a 'talk' called Safe Drive Stay Alive and it was so harrowing! It really made me think about driving safely (not that i'm not planning to drive safely when I turn 17!), even when it's not me actually driving. If you're from the UK and your school or college offers it, I would definitely recommend going, even if you don't  plan on driving immediately after you turn 17, it also focused on how you can avoid an accident if you're a passenger of someone driving riskily. I'll put a link to their website here if you want to go and have a look. I do have to say though, what they say is very hard-hitting and sometimes upsetting but at least it gets the point across.

Anyway, onto the post. The past few weeks have been DIY posts so I thought throwing in a good ol' review would be fun. Around this time of year, make-up looks start getting a little darker and more dramatic. Basically, the red, purple and brown lipsticks come out to play. This is the first year that I've tried a slightly darker lipstick and, I have to say, I love it! I went out a few weeks ago and brought 2 types, a lip crayon and a regular lipstick. I wasn't really expecting them to both be the same colour, as the colour of the outer shell looked different but it actually worked out well for me! I now have 2 different types, that are suited to different budgets, to share. I haven't really tried out the Make-up Revolution one much yet, but it'll probably be just as good as the other one from Revlon I have.

The Revlon lip crayon is in the colour Fiery Flamboyante (270) and was £7.99. I'll be the first to admit that I wouldn't usually pay that much for something like a lipstick, but this one has definitely been worth it! I wore it out to a meal with my friends about a week ago and it stayed put the whole time I was eating, and I only touched it up afterwards because I'd wiped off some from the edge. It has some serious staying power and is also pretty easy to apply!

The Make-up Revolution lipstick is just a traditional lipstick in the colour 'Reckless'. It's pretty much the same as the Revlon crayon, except it's £1 instead of almost £8. Considering how little it costs, it's actually a pretty great lipstick. There's a little pot on the end (the bit with the colour) with lipstick inside but I have no idea why it's there, so if anyone knows, please tell me!

This last piece is just a lipliner from New Look. It doesn't have a particular colour but I'm pretty impressed with my colour matching skills as I brought it (for £1.99) without knowing if it was actually a good match or not. Turns out, it is, so I'm very happy with it. The price isn't really really high either, which means that it won't break the bank for anyone wanting to buy it.

I hope you all have a lovely week. If you're watching any fireworks tonight, then have fun and make sure you take an umbrella, particularly if you live in the South East!
